FAQ's

Q: Should I bring anything?
A: Everything at The Little Mexican Cooking School is provided - all ingredients, a recipe/workbook, towel, utensils and a Little Mexican Cooking School apron (yours to keep!)

Q: What if there aren't enough students on the day I'm hoping to take a class?
A: Our classes are designed for travellers as 2 mid-week sessions, of which one will hopefully fit easily into your week-long Mexican adventure. If you have a conflict we may be able to arrange a special private class. Give us a call or email to discuss.

The advantages of a private class are, of course, that you can enjoy one-on-one interaction with the chef. You can also help plan the menu - if, for example, you wish to focus on chiles or other specific foods. Private classes are also wonderful options for families or small groups traveling together.

Q: Are the classes demonstrations, or will I have a chance to cook?
A: The classes at The Little Mexican Cooking School are a combination of watching and "hands-on", so... don't be shy!

Q: Are the classes taught in Spanish or English?
A: All classes at The Little Mexican Cooking School are taught in English. But, with our local teachers, you'll also get a smattering of cuisine Spanish, thrown in for good measure.

Q: When should I arrive?
A: All classes at The Little Mexican Cooking School begin promptly at 10:00 am. Feel free to arrive 15 minutes beforehand, when coffee and pastries will be served.

Q: Can I keep my cell phone with me?
A: By all means keep it with you, but like other theater spaces, we ask that you shut off your phone during class so as not to disturb other students. Feel free to use your phone during our breaks.

Q: My companion hates to cook. But he loves to eat! Is there a way he can join us for the meal?
A: Certainly! For a nominal fee, spouses, significant others or friends who don't wish to take the cooking class may also join us for lunch, depending on space at the table. Please inquire as to availability.

Q: What if I'm a vegetarian or have other food restrictions?
A: By design, we can't possibly cater to a variety of food restrictions. We also believe that "When in Rome do as the Romans do."

So, come and enjoy what the school has to offer. Since several dishes are prepared each class, there will be a variety from which to choose.

Common ingredients used at the school are: pork, lard, corn, tomatoes, beans, beef, fish, seafood, avocado, pumpkin seeds. If you are strongly allergic to any of these, check with us before booking your class.

If you have limitations, it's possible to book a Private Class, where you will be able to help tailor-make the menu to suit your needs.

Q: What about tipping?
A: No tipping is necessary. Consider yourself at a party among friends, where tipping would be unnecessary. On the other hand, if you are particularly appreciative of the treatment you received from our staff, you may certainly leave them a small gratuity.
